This Privacy Policy explains what personal data EdgeTape ("we", "us") collects when you use edgetapejournal.com and the related product (the "Service"), how we use it, and the choices you have. This page is maintained by EdgeTape.
1. Data we collect
Account data
When you create an account we store your email address and an encrypted password hash. If you sign in with a third-party provider, we receive the identifiers that provider returns.
Trading data you enter
Trades, rule checklists, notes, prop-firm account details, and any other content you submit to the Service. This data is yours; we store it so you can access and analyze it.
Billing data
Subscription tier, status, renewal dates, and Stripe customer and subscription identifiers. We never see or store your full card number or CVC — Stripe handles that directly.
Technical data
Basic request metadata (IP address, user agent, timestamp) used for security, abuse prevention, and debugging. Errors are captured with stack traces and route context to help us fix bugs.
2. How we use your data
- To operate the Service and show you your own trading history.
- To bill you and manage your subscription.
- To generate AI coaching commentary from the trades you log. Prompts derived from your data are sent to our AI provider (see Subprocessors) solely to return a response to you; providers are contractually restricted from training on your inputs.
- To communicate essential account, billing, and security notices.
- To detect abuse, prevent fraud, and secure the Service.
3. Legal bases (EEA / UK)
We rely on contractual necessity to provide the Service and billing, legitimate interest for security and product improvement, and consent where required (for example, optional analytics or marketing).
4. Subprocessors
We use a small set of vendors to run the Service. Each is bound by confidentiality and appropriate data-processing terms:
- Supabase — authentication, database, storage.
- Stripe — payment processing and billing.
- Cloudflare — hosting, CDN, and edge functions.
- OpenAI / Anthropic / Google — AI models routed via our AI gateway to power the AI Coach.
- Google Search Console — search performance analytics.
5. Retention
- Account and trading data: retained while your account is active.
- After account deletion: production data is deleted within 30 days; backups roll off within 90 days.
- Billing records: retained as required by tax and accounting law (typically 7 years).
6. Your rights
Depending on your jurisdiction (GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA and others), you may have the right to access, correct, export, or delete your personal data, restrict or object to certain processing, and withdraw consent. To exercise any of these rights, email hello@edgetapejournal.com. We will respond within the timeframe required by applicable law.
7. Cookies
We use strictly necessary cookies and local storage to keep you signed in and to remember your preferences. We do not use advertising cookies.
8. International transfers
Our subprocessors may process data in the United States and other countries. Where required, transfers rely on the appropriate legal mechanism (for example, Standard Contractual Clauses).
9. Security
Access to your data requires authentication and is enforced by row-level security in our database. Payment card data is handled exclusively by Stripe. We monitor for suspicious activity and patch promptly. No system is perfectly secure — report a suspected vulnerability to hello@edgetapejournal.com.
10. Children
EdgeTape is not directed to anyone under 18 and we do not knowingly collect data from children.
11. Changes
We may update this policy. Material changes will be announced in the Service or by email. The "Last updated" date at the top reflects the most recent revision.
